P.I.E. as Your Guide
With over 35 years of experience facilitating exchanges, P.I.E. provides assurance that you will receive professional service. Should you indicate an interest in hosting an exchange student, Pacific Intercultural Exchange will gather information about your family’s makeup, hobbies and interests, and special requests regarding the nationality and gender of any potential exchange students. Complete the online pre-application to receive an information packet. A program representative will contact you to answer any questions you might have. If, at that time, you are interested in pursuing hosting, a time will set up a time when an in-home visit can be conducted.
The purpose of the in-home visit is to see where the student will live and discuss the program in greater detail with all family members. During the visit, the representative will want to see all the rooms in your home, including the room where the student will stay to ensure that the participant will have an individual bed, adequate space to store clothing, and a suitable area in which to study.

An orientation will be provided to assist the families in preparing for the exchange.
Be sure to attend so you can meet other host families in your community, forming a peer support network. While the students are in the United States, the local representative will contact you, the student, and the high school on at least a monthly basis to provide any needed assistance or advice.
Pacific Intercultural Exchange has three different levels of support:
Area Representative- Residing within 120 miles of your home
Regional Manager- Experienced team member overseeing a region
P.I.E. Headquarters Staff- Monitoring the exchange and providing counseling and emergency assistance
P.I.E. makes every effort to offer the highest level of support to the students and families involved in the program. We hope that you will engage in this journey with Pacific Intercultural Exchange as your guide.
